Where I Teach Wednesday (2 Days Late!)

Despite the fact that I currently don't have a home classroom, I'm linking up the pictures of my frog themed classroom from last year and also my sister's polka dot classroom from this year. Her room isn't done yet, but I'll show you what we have done so far!

Click the picture below to check out my frog themed classroom!

Here are some of the pictures from my sister's classroom. She teaches a special ed class and only has four students!

It's amazing how much better a teacher desk can look!

This is my favorite! I bought her the photo board from Walgreen for $5.00 and added the black and white ribbon.

This the back of the room. On the left is her unfinished calendar board and in the middle is her "anti-bullying" board. That was the hardest bulletin board I have ever had to make. I had to cut around not one, but two electrical outlets and a soap dispenser!!

These tubs will hold her clip boards and white boards. The tubs came from Wal Mart and the sticky letters and polka dots are from Dollar Tree! The smaller tubs are from Target in the Dollar Spot.

Here is a view of the front of the room. This is still a work in progress. The left board is a math board and the right is for the bell schedule and classroom rules. We are definitely making her rules on polka dot ribbon though!

This her classroom library currently. We decorated the two pillars with reading genres.

Finally, this is her table by the door for homework, mailboxes, etc. The table cloth is from Target too.

I'll be sure to post updated photos when we get them! School doesn't start up here until Sept. 6th. I'm just happy that I at least got to partake in some classroom decorating this year. Be sure to check out everyone's classroom pictures at {Blog Hoppin'}.

Summer School Stuff

Today was day 3 of summer school! I am working as a personal aide in my sister's summer school classroom. This school is for children with special needs. I'm not special ed. certified, but my sister is. It's a good experience to learn more about how to handle children with behavior problems, however,  most of these children are not mainstreamed. I have been helping her plan activities to complete in class. Last week we made these:

These are adapted from Teri at A Cupcake for the Teacher. You can get them here! The printable came from Hadar at Miss Kindergarten. You can get that here!

Here are some other things that I've created for my sister's classroom:

These came from Mama Jenn. She has everything available to print on her website!!!

Finally, I created this sign so people know where the class is. This was a requirement from administration. When I heard there was a contest, I told my sister that I would create it, lol.

Now it's time to take a look at a wonderful giveaway!!!

Lori from Teaching With Love and Laughter is giving away a Hear All Assessment Recorder from Learning Resources. Click her blog button to check it out!

Until next time,

Stick a fork in me! I'm done!

For the past three days, I have been going through file folders, papers, bags, and crates. I've been organizing everything into binders. I ran into a huge problem yesterday though. I ran out of plastic page protectors! I had to start filing them behind the dividers until I can get more. Since I'm moving on Saturday, I can't really afford any added expenses right now. I'm not 100% done, but I'm mostly done. Only a small pile stands between me and crossing it off my to-do list!!!

I filled 11 binders!
These are the biggest ones! Some of them couldn't hold anything else.
I like how they fit perfectly on top of this rolling cart. The drawers are filled with extra class copies. I'm going to have to add something to the front of the drawers though. They need cutesifying!
These are one of the baggies inside the drawers. Each bag is separated by theme.
I also need to print some more binder covers and spine labels. I only have my iPad right now, so that will have to wait! I had to give my laptop back to the school and my desktop is being fixed (in case you were wondering).

These are the covers I will have:

1. August/September, October, November
2. December, January, February
3. March, April, May/June
4. Reading Comprehension Skills
5. Phonics
6. Grammar & Language Arts
7. Frogs
8. Insects
9. Weather
10. Guided Reading
11. Word Study

Binder Organization

I'm still not done with reorganizing all of my files, but I have about 1/3 of it done! I have been super busy packing up my room. I have been leaving work after 6 pm every night, my feet are throbbing, and I'm exhausted. Tomorrow is the last day of school (half day), but it's bittersweet because I'm saying goodbye to all of my students for the last time. Here are some photos of one of my binders:

I recycled my file folders by cutting them, punching holes in them, and using them as dividers. This way, I can see the tabs past the plastic sheet protectors (unlike most dividers)!

This is all of the stuff that I took home from my classroom. I think I'm a basket hoarder!

Hope you all have a great night!
